Rotary Airlock Valve
Rotary airlock valves or RAVs are one of the best equipment for dry bulk material handling and dust collection. Their main application revolves around airlock, pneumatic conveying in high velocity, metered drop-through, and feeding solutions. At Macawber, we have designs for blow-through, drop-through, and self-cleaning type RAVs in various MOCs. We also have food grade, sanitary type designs for RAVs with removable rotors for quick cleaning, washing and drying.
Rotary Airlock Valves Key Features
- The design of RAVs is compact, which makes them easy to install and/or replace.
- They have a rugged body that prevents distortion, while the heavy shaft diameters minimise deflection.
- They are low-cost, high-power functioning, precision machines.
- The heavy-duty metal construction of RAVs ensures longer service life.
- The entry valve has a good throat opening, which ensures that you can efficiently & quickly fill in the materials.
- The rotary airlock valves are easy to clean, which helps maintain hygiene.
- They have a strong gland-type seal that minimises air loss. It also features outboard (external) bearings that help prevent contamination.
- They require minimum or low maintenance, which saves time and costs.
- They are resistant to wear & tear and doesn’t degrade even after coming in contact with chemicals.
- The rotary airlock valves are suitable for extreme pressures and provide smooth, low-noise operations.
- They have an extensive range of rotor options, depending on the applications.
Rotary Airlock Valves Application Areas
Rotary airlock valves are used for applications wherein the system air loss needs to be minimised while transferring materials (between vessels) with a pressure differential. They are especially used in industry that uses grains, dry free-flowing powders and solid substances. Typically, they are used in cement factories, sugar mills, paint industry, pharmaceuticals, food & beverages, tobacco, coffee, flour, and mineral industries.
- It is used in the cement industry as a mechanism for feeding limestone, clinker, and cement into the mills without the mixing of false or ambient air.
- These valves also function as isolation devices in events of fire or deflagration within the processing facility. Though they do not stop fires completely, they help seal the airflow and material, slowing and/or preventing flames from spreading further down the conveying line.
- Rotary airlock valves are highly suitable for controlling pollution in wood, grain, food, paint, paper, rubber, and other industries.
- Rotary airlock valves can also function widely as volumetric feeders. They meter materials at precise flow rates, released from bins, hoppers, or silos onto the conveying or processing systems.
