P. Shankar is a highly skilled professional with strong experience in mechanical engineering. He endured a long and successful career and made significant contributions to many different sectors. His educational journey includes a BSc degree from Bombay University, a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Institution of Engineers in Kolkata, and a Diploma in Management Studies from Bombay University. He has established himself as a competent and skilled team player because of his diverse educational background and plenty of practical experience.
His professional journey began in 1973 with sales jobs in Foundry chemicals, Sintered Glass filters, and Laboratory equipment. By 1975, he had joined Batliboi Ltd, where he gained extensive experience in Material Handling. In 1985, he ventured into the Heavy EOT crane sector with Garlik Engineering, where he specialised in handling heavy and specialised application cranes. His experience with complex and demanding projects solidified his reputation as an industry expert.
In January 1995, he began a new chapter by joining Macawber India, a joint venture with Macawber Engineering Inc. in the United States. He served a variety of businesses dealing with bulk materials, specialising in Dense Phase Pneumatic Conveying Systems. His knowledge ranged from minerals to power plants and the chemical and polymer sectors.
Notably, he conceptualised a complex machine for pet coke handling in an Anode baking furnace, leading to successful supply, commissioning, and repeat orders—a testament to his project impact. Moreover, he has played a pivotal role in mentoring and training young engineers, sharing his comprehensive knowledge and expertise across all aspects of applications.
